The data centre / Rechenzentrum takes its Christmas break

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

The year 2022 brought numerous changes to the Computing Centre. The former director Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schneider retired on 1 April 22. Since then, the Computing Centre has been under the joint provisional management of Dr Nicole Wöhrle and Dr Dirk von Suchodletz, in close consultation with CIO Prof. Dr Marc Scholl. In the meantime, the position for the management of the centre is being advertised.

Since then, numerous new projects have been initiated and launched, which will become visible to users in 2023. Among other things, new systems will be introduced in the areas of research data management, document management and digital personnel administration/travel expense management. In the area of identity management and conversion of the web relaunch, there will also be reinforcements from a technical point of view in order to be able to advance these processes more quickly.

Structural changes within the departments of the computer centre are also underway. After Dr Detlev Degenhardt retired at the beginning of December, the "Virtualisation and Storage Systems" department was dissolved.  All previous employees and contact persons from this department have been assigned to new departments and will continue to perform their tasks in the future. Changes in the personnel structure can be found in the new organisation chart. In 2023, the department management will be reassigned with a new structure.

We can therefore look back on an eventful year and will start full of verve into the year 2023, in which a lot will continue to move. For 2022, we would like to say goodbye to all users and thank them for the trust they have placed in us. We wish everyone a relaxing and peaceful Christmas break and a happy New Year.

Like all buildings of the University, the Computer Centre will close from 24.12.22 to 02.01.2023.
As of 09.01.2022, we will be back for you with our usual staff.
