Shelving of switched off, inactive VM in the bwCloud SCOPE Freiburg region

In the Freiburg region the switched off, inactive VMs of the bwCloud SCOPE are being shelved. Users of this inactive VM have a week left to start their VMs.

After the switching off of inactive VMs in the bwCloud SCOPE an the Freiburg location on May 7, 2019 https://www.rz.uni-freiburg.de/rz/aktuell/stoerungen/openstack-upgrade the VMs that have remained inactive will be shelved on July 3. Users still have a week left to restart their VMs before they get shelved. With the shelving method, a snapshot is made of the inactive VMs. Thereafter, the ressources allocated to that instance are released again. The VM in intself is not deleted and the user does not have to worry about data loss when restarting the VM. The reserved vCPUs and vRAM are, however, available again to the other users.
