Malfunction of the central UPS in the IT Services

Maintenance work is currently being carried out on the aging central UPS in the data centre. It was discovered that the replacement of a central component did not bring the desired result. Therefore, the system is running in pass-through mode and disturbances in the energy network are directly affecting it. This could lead to disruptions or outages during the upcoming thunderstorms over the weekend.

At the moment, maintenance work is being carried out on the central UPS at the server room Location A, IT Services in H.-Herder-Str. 10. These have not been successful so far, the provider of the device is working on it with the maintenance company. The system is currently running in pass-through mode (comparable to the standard supply of the devices in the machine rooms MS I/II in the RZ). This means that disturbances in the energy network go straight through. We see time and again that individual machines are disturbed by unusual peaks or other fluctuations (defective power supply units, ...) In view of the thunderstorm situation predicted for the weekend, it could therefore lead to disturbances on the systems. The machines in MS III (KG II) are not affected by this.
