File server/central storage system: NFS disruption

The are currently issues with the NFS service on our central file server (central storage system) since the switch to the new operating system version on January 11, 2019.

Unfortunately, the NFS Service is rebooted at unpredictable times on different nodes. The NFS is then not available on that node for around 1-3 seconds. Depending on the NFS version, that can have different consequences. Known so far is the termination of the NFS connection, which leads to an inevitable reboot of the system. It can also happen that the programs that cannot handle the failure crash. The NFS transmission speed can also suffer. Since all of the 16 nodes are potentially affected, it is impossible to predict which client will be affected at what time.

We are currently working on a solution together with the developer. The root cause has not been found yet, which makes it difficult to predict how long the problem will persist.

We will inform you as soon as the issue has been solved. Up until then we can unfortunately only ask for your patience. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Sincerely,
Your Storage Team
