The war of Russia against the Ukraine also takes place in the cybersphere. The threat assessment is currently on level 3/orange according to the Federal Cyber Security Authority (Bundesamt für Sicherheit in der Informationsstechnik, BSI). Hence we'd like to raise awareness among the University members, e.g., for Phishing e-mails.

In a press release dated Feb. 25, 2022, the BSI states an increased threat level although there are no indicators for concrete cyber attacks related to the situation in the Ukraine. This assessment can change quickly, though.

Those who have scientifc or academic contacts to people in Russia or Ukraine should increase their attention. The issue of desinformation and fake news is also important and sources and news should be checked and verified.
