We have by now analyzed the network issues on 22 November.
On Friday, 22 November, we experienced multiple network issues. An institute's homepage, which is operated on the IT-Services webserver had not been checked for security gaps for some time. As a consequence hackers were able to attack the system and launch an Denial of Service Attack (DoS-Attack).
The IT-Services are working on finding solutions in order to prevent such attacks in the future. As part of this, the IT-Services are asking all operators of services that are accessible via the network to regularly check their service for security gaps and to install the relevant updates.
