Application for aquisition of storage system with research data management components
Research data management is the foundation for an easy use and sustainable storage of all sorts of scientific data. Due to the variety of different science communities and at times already existing approaches, the problem of research data management is complex and should thus be tackled by a federation with partners. Therefore, the department eScience is coordinating DFG applications according to 91b and 143c, together with colleagues in Tübingen and with the help of the department Storage and Virtualisation. The core of these applications, made in cooperation with NEMO subject communities, is the acquisition of a bigger (and more distributed) storage system. It should be equipped with components and services for furture research data management, on the basis of hierarchical storage. Furthermore, it should be linked to other research infrastructures, such as HPC or bwCloud.
