Installation Cloud hardware

The installation of new cloud hardware is currently being carried out at the IT Services location Hermann-Herder-Straße. It includes: 27 new "compute" nodes with high storage capacity and 100 Tbyte block storage (CEPH, gross capacity). The hardware will be tested step by step and put into operation.

The cloud hardware at the IT Services (de.NBI and bwCloud) is currently undergoing an expansion. Currently, 27 new "compute" nodes with current AMD-CPU and with high storage capacity (256 GB) are being put into operation. At the moment, this allows the possibility to evaluate the platform. For this, simply make an inquiry at the eScience department (HPC or Cloud team). Easiest are tests based on the current NEMO software environment (this allows the new common boot concept for the basic infrastructure "compute", which is being implemented step by step). The nodes are connected locally with 10 Git/s and with 40 Gbit/s with the core router of the IT Services.

Simultaneously, the available storage will be expanded to 100 TByte block storage (CEPH, gross capacity; JBOD via two storage server), which should significantly decrease the probability of overflow. The hardware will be tested step by step and put into operation.
