22 July 2026 15:35: Problems issuing certificates via HARICA
There are currently issues with the issuance of certificates via HARICA. This affects both ACME requests via the university proxy and direct ACME requests to HARICA.
According to our current assessment, the cause may lie in increased utilisation of the HARICA infrastructure. Timeouts are occurring repeatedly during the automated certificate issuance process via ACME, particularly during the ‘Finalise’ step of the ACME protocol, in which the certificate request is processed. As a result, the certificate cannot be issued successfully.
There are currently delays even when applying for certificates manually via the HARICA portal. This suggests that not only the ACME service but also the web portal is being affected by the increased workload.
In isolated cases, however, ACME requests and manual certificate applications are still processed successfully. The success rate appears to depend on the current workload of the HARICA systems.
We are monitoring the situation and are in contact with HARICA. As soon as we have further information or the fault has been rectified, we will provide an update here.
