As a member of Freiburg University, you can set up a personal e-mail account under the domain uni-freiburg.de.
In order to obtain this account, log on to myAccount and choose the option “E-mail account/ University e-mail accounts,” where you are then asked to choose a name for your new e-mail address.
The format of this e-mail address is: firstname.surname@domain.uni-freiburg.de; students have four planet name options for a domain name. Staff receive the domain name from their respective institute or facility (e.g. firstname.surname@rz.uni-freiburg.de for anyone employed by the University IT Services). If your facility has its own mail server, myAccont is alerted and you will be informed of how to apply for your new e-mail account.
For students, the University’s e-mail account has 100 MB memory space and a spam filter. E-mail accounts for staff have 300 MB memory space and can be upgraded to include calendar, task organizer, synchronization tools. All e-mail accounts can be accessed at http://domain.uni-freiburg.de (please replace your selected planet name with domain). Please use your “Account Name” or “Username” from your Uni-Account. The University’s e-mail account can also be accessed through common e-mail clients such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook.
